I have been talking back and forth with this so-called company in the UK. They haven't been asking me to cash 10% and send that back, like most scams I've seen. They're actually offering to pay me $750 a week plus 8% of each transaction. It's the same basic scam cycle I've seen with the cashing customer's checks in my bank account. I have been able to find the company's website and it basically says the same thing. I have also been able to find the company using a white pages of sorts for the UK. The only thing that bugs me is how, if he's from the UK, he has such trouble speaking English. I don't really know if they're legit and of course the guy I'm talking to will tell me they are so help me please! The name of the company is Neo Investment Management. They claim they're creating a US branch in mid-July of this year and that this is a legit company by US standards. This is his latest e-mail to me: Thank you for your reply. You will work from home until we open our US branch. We care to explain to you thoroughly the entire process that will possibly be the best job you will ever have. This job is possible because our company has its headquarters in London, UK. As such we do not yet have our offices in the United States. Until we do we will always need representatives in the USA to take care of some financial matters. At this time we cannot accept direct payments and orders from our clients and customers. Due to the local and international law the only way we can sell internationally is to open local sales offices/branches (our 1st US branch will be opened in mid-July, 2009) or use company representatives for these purposes. Hi, i am just asking around for some advice and i thought that maybe on here someone had done something simular in the UK. I am a stay at home mum and i have seen a business opportunity for the possability of making sandwiches for my next door neighbours corner shop/news agents. I just rang the enviromental health up to find out what i need to do legally, and i have to register my premisis as a food business apparently, but i wont even be making 10 sandwiches a day. Resolved Question: Employer abuse, where to complain?!?

I am writing this post because I need some advice on how I can sort out the issue I will relate below. Any advice would be much appreciated. I would mainly like to bring these facts to the authorities' attention. I am sure that the UKBA is trying to do it's best to tackle border tax fraud, smuggling and immigration crime and I was sure that they will follow up my complaint with appropriate action as the concerns that I will mention are of a very serious nature and detrimental not only to the HM Revenue but also to the people that are being mistreated and abused. Unfortunately it's been most than 6 months now since I've first contacted them and no signs of reply yet. I have been hired by Ms Andrea Mattia to work in one of the Kiosks belonging to Andrea Mattia Concessions (she operates in Outlet Shopping Villages and has more than 60 only east Europeans nationals employed) as an Assistant Manager and I had the unfortunate chance to see the manner in which she runs her business and the treatment of her staff. You should know Ms Mattia employs only foreign nationals from Romania and Bulgaria and she uses the grey areas of the somewhat awkward working regulation set out by the Home Office for Romanian and Bulgarian nationals in order to bully, abuse and mistreat her employees almost to the level of modern slavery. The Home Office states that nationals from either country may work in the UK as long as they are either self employed or in possession of a work permit. Ms Mattia however has taken great care not to mention this information to her staff, which she brings from the respective countries herself. She also assures them that they will be paid excellent rates and be given free accommodation and that they will also be entitle to a free meal everyday all as part of a great opportunity to work and live in the UK, unfortunately the reality could not be further from the truth. In fact Ms Mattia does offer accommodation for her staff but not for free as promised, her generosity means that 10 or more adults will be living in one house, which adds up to around 4 adults per room. She also makes sure to force her staff to hide while the council comes round to check. She also keeps one month’s deposit from each employee with no proof or receipt, and if the employee decides to leave she will ensure that none of the money is given back by using preposterous and outrages excuses to deduct from the employee’s deposits. However, if you thought that this woman has any decency left that you are wrong, because she also makes her staff work in excess of 60 hour weeks for months on end. No days off, no holidays! Because as she personally mentions to her staff on a regular basis “I am British, what are you going to do about it!” At the same time she also makes sure to hold back money from their wages for taxes, quite admirable if only her staff were registered to pay taxes, but they are not as they are Self Employed and she has no right to hold back their taxes or they have no right to work at all because she has never lawfully employed them. She also makes sure to remind her staff that they are worthless illegal immigrants and that without her help they would be sent back to where they came from. Ms Mattia’s outrageous treatment of her staff is not only for business because she also gets them to clean her private residence on a regular basis, with no pay obviously, because they are nothing more than modern slaves! I very much hoped that the central and local authorities will take the right steps in order to put a stop at this atrocious behavior which is a disgrace for the British system, but unfortunately as far as I am aware none of them has approached this company yet. I understand that I am not the first person to complain to the UKBA Agency about this particular case and I wonder how come she is still there, running her business, abusing people and treat them as slaves, making loads of money without paying taxes and no one has done a thing. I've been there, I know her paper work, everything she does is anything but legal and still...she is there. I wonder how this is possible. Recently, I've been threatened by Andrea Mattia's friends, that if I will go ahead with contacting the Home Office and HM Revenue I will be harmed, the police is following up this case as well. Why is the Home Office not doing anything? Is it because she is a British person, was she right, there's nothing we can do? I would like to get a reply from you and please feel free to contact me if you need any further information. I would also like to contact national media, hoping someone will give a helping hand to these poor people who are being maltreated and abused. Resolved Question: What on earth shall I do?

I agreed to move abroad with my then-boyfriend, back to his home country. Once we arrived here, we got married but I knew from the start that I wasn't happy living here and told him so. We decided to move back to the UK, but he doesn't want to go for at least a couple of years because he has a business here, and because of the credit crunch. He thinks that, financially, we can do better here, and therefore have a better future. The problem is that I don't think that I can stay here for that long, as I am so lonely and unhappy, and am in tears every day. Whenever I bring this up with him, we end up having a huge argument and nothing ever gets resolved, no matter how I approach the subject. He does understand how I feel, but thinks that I just need to be more patient and wait it out - if we went back now then he would regret missing this opportunity. We have been here for eight months now. If it was as simple as just choosing where I'd rather be, and going, then I would have returned to the UK long ago. But th fact is, he is the love of my life, and I wouldn't leave without him because I love him so much. I just feel that in this situation, I either lose or I lose, and I just wish that he would see tha my happiness is more important than money. The thing is, he does - but he also genuinely believes that although it's hard for me now, in the future it's going to make us happy as we will have a better standard of living. Resolved Question: What would you choose, love or a career?

I'm living in a foreign country with my foreign partner who I have been with for over 6 years now. I've decided I don't want to be here anymore. I want to go back to England, so I can have a career. (The wages here are very poor and the prospect of a career is near nil.) My problem is my partner is great, he is so kind, such a gentleman and very loving. I know that he loves me to death, and it will hurt him terribly if I leave as he has built his whole life around me. I'd be very surprised to find a guy like him again! But by staying here, I am completely dependent on him. I am missing out on my ambitions of having a career, being independent and I am homesick for my life in England. We have bought a house in Italy by selling the old house of MY parents, which we turned into a bed and breakfast in Tuscany and he pays his share of taxes like every other European does. He can run our bed and breakfast company on his own and manage the paperwork without any of my help. Me: Even though we have a bed and breakfast in Italy, our home in Dallas, Texas. Here I am attending the college and trying to get a bachelor in Business because I have always been working and never had the time to graduate. But that's not the only reason why I am going to college. I can be in the US only with a student visa, because I do not qualify to start any business, I cannot have a mortgage from a US bank, I do not qualify for a SSN because international students do not qualify. If ever Lloyd will get sick, and he will need to use an American hospital, I will not be able to be with him because I do not qualify for any domestic rights, because I am not an American citizen. If I drop out of school, I will have to live separately from Lloyd if he needs to come home to the US. I have to show off at least $50,000 in cash from my bank account every 2 years just to extend my student visa and I must be at a high academic standing if I want to keep staying in Dallas with my husband. We live in a constant fear and despair because the US denies our right to live together and be socially recognized. Getting married in Massachusetts or California will not change the situation because they are state laws. I send Lloyd to manage the bed and breakfast in Italy during summer while I have to make sure to verify my passport visa every time I live the US and go to college in the summer so I can get a degree faster. The only way I can become a citizen is by having a working visa, when in truth I already have a job. Hi I was in la for 5 weeks in july and met this amazing girl, we only new each other for 8 days but by the second I was in love with her, so much I actully bought her a $500 necklace before I had to go back home to the uk ( i new I was comeing back to go to college out here in August). Really messed up. without going into the long story (again!) i'll get you up to date, in short I messed up my A levels, spent 4 years at uni in home city and still only managed to get a crappy pass in a diploma where I should have gained the year before a BA Hons, went to travel with hopes of doing the far east but never got passed the west coastal states of India (mostly spending time in a v small city with extended family) and finally come home looking for a job and get offered this great opportunity only to have to turn it down cause the old man wanted me to come home every week and thought I was being unreasonable (now that i've said no to the job, like always, he's turned it back on me saying its my fault like the messed up holiday he poked his nose into and the study where I never got the support I needed despite having listened to him and stayed home). In my messed up head its all down to my family cause they stress me out so much I go on a freaky rampage (whereas I am normally a very very calm person) and make wrong decisions. Anyway I am totally down and depressed and want to give up looking for the job I want and fulfill the old mans prophecy of working in a call centre (nothing wrong with it, just bin there done that and don't want to go there again) and then work weekends at the shop so that when my uncle retires in 15 odd years I can officially on paper buy him out but in reality become my dads dog at work too (bad enough having to be at home!) and still having to listen to my uncle about the shop even though its not officially his (keeping respect as he started the legacy). My folks are not bad people (my uncles much worst than my old man) its just their messed up ideology logic and lack of understanding, listening and reasoning. My bros doing well cause he just ignores everyone in the family but I can't do that cause no one expects anything from him than to get on with his own life yet I'm expected to carry on the business in the future and being my old mans eldest (and sane eldest of the uk joint cause my cousin has mental difficulties) I am also expected to be the family elder and learn all whos who and go to all the functions as the family rep and take care of all the joint family ins and outs. I don't mind doing all this but I fail to see where I am being respected for this. If I do what my brother does I get slammed for turning my back on the family and although I really wouldn't mind leaving my parents its the other family counterparts I don't want to let down. and course I get treated like c12@p anyway doing what they want. I was thinking of going back to uni but i'm kidding my self if the situation at homes still the same I don't have a leg to stand on and my folks def won't support me at all this time. Since recent booms in sales of electronic items more of this e-waste is being made, which makes it hard to enforce exportation of it; because of the rate that e-waste is filling into landfills also makes it harder to discard of it. (“Toxic Waste”) In the city of Guiyu an environmental problem has spiraled out of control, citizens are being allowed to dismantle electronic waste (most imported) in their homes and near by workshops. In China recycling e-waste is not taken as a threat to the environment or health and safety regulations. Even though the Chinese law prohibits the importation of e-waste and Beijing is part of the Basle Agreement, (an international treaty that is banning the shipment of e-waste from developed countries to developing countries), they still import e-waste.
